Requirements and restrictions

The CECT only supplies strains to microbiology laboratories; never to private homes/addresses.

Delivery is always by courier to ensure traceability.

The recipient of the strains is responsible for ensuring that the use of the strains meets with the requirements of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Nagoya Protocol.

The strains are supplied under a material transfer agreement (MTA). The general MTA of the CECT can be consulted here. Some strains may have specific MTAs, which will be indicated on the tab.

Some of the strains conserved at the CECT are officially listed as controlled microorganisms, i.e., subject to special regulations.
