On October 6-7, 2025, the Centre Cultural La Nau of the University of Valencia will host the Cultural Management Meeting of Xarxa Vives, a key event for university culture teams and managers.
The goal is to foster community involvement in cultural programming, establish a shared diagnosis of current challenges, and design strategies for a more participatory and inclusive cultural policy.
🔑 Key highlights
-
Challenges and strategies: conferences will address the role of public universities in cultural management and the impact of cultural experiences.
-
Participatory diagnosis: discussion groups to define conditions and cultural policies that are more inclusive and collaborative.
-
Key speakers: participation of experts such as Raúl Abeledo (Observatori Cultural UV), Pau Rausell (Econcult), Antonio J. González Rueda (University of Cádiz) and Marcia Jadue (Observatori Cultural UV).
-
University cooperation: closing session with the Xarxa Vives Cultural Management Working Group to set future guidelines.
The program includes sessions on the role of public universities in culture, the economic and social impact of cultural experiences, and dialogue spaces to build a shared diagnosis. The meeting will conclude with the Cultural Management Working Group of Xarxa Vives, which will define the strategic lines for the coming years.
In 2021, the institutions that make up Xarxa Vives established a common reference framework for strategically planning their cultural policies, materialized in the “Universities and Culture Charter”. This document proposed guiding principles and areas of action to reinforce university cultural initiatives. In this context, university cultural observatories play a key role in generating knowledge, assessing the impact of cultural policies, and guiding decision-making.
This event aims to reach a consensus on the conditions needed to encourage greater involvement of the university community in cultural programming, taking into account both the diversity of audiences and the working dynamics of the cultural units.
The meeting is an opportunity to connect universities and society through culture and to strengthen the role of universities as cultural drivers.
