Presentation of the “Culture for Recovery” Plan in which ECONCULT has participated

The ‘Culture for recovery’ plan is based on three lines of action: optimising the available resources by the Consellería, giving importance to the professionalization of cultural and creative workers with measures such as the revision of the assistance model and developing an extensive support network to the cultural development so as to create new job opportunities.

The plan was developed, together with the Culture Autonomic Secretary, by a team formed by Ramón Marrades, Paloma Medina, Chema Segovia and Pau Rausell when it comes to Econcult. In the proposal, which is inspired in researches conducted by the MESOC European project, several strategic actions for the reinforcement of the Valencian cultural ecosystem, focused on the social, economic and territorial transformation from culture perspective are suggested.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a great impact on public health and, therefore, on the welfare and happiness general levels of the whole population. Mobility restrictions and the cancellation of almost all productive activities also had economic consequences. The effect of both parts is not produced homogeneously. On the contrary, it led to inequalities and was focused in the most vulnerable spaces. Cultural and creative sectors were direct and heavily affected by the dynamics triggered by the health crisis. In the culture field, after an initial period of urgent response, it was quickly understood that the challenge not only was reducing the suffered impacts, but also progressing in order to solve deep problems in the cultural ecosystem and open ways forward to new models of cultural action.
