The Chair for Economic and Social Policy was created in 2023 through Act 8/2023 (December 27) of the Generalitat budget for 2024 (DOGV n. 9756, of 30-12-2023). This Act planed a nominative series of subsidies called “Chair for Economic and Social Policy of the Valencian Region”, the beneficiary of which is the Universitat de València.

The Valencian government (Generalitat Valenciana) understands that the study and understanding of social and economic policies is crucial for decision-making. And, because of this, it is an essential element in order to establish general guidelines for the government in this field. In understanding, implementation and development of public policies, the Universitat de València is a useful ally for governments given its permanent relation with people who study on this field. The union of these institutions caused the creation of this Chair.
