The Authorised Body evaluates and tracks research and teaching projects that use animals with impartiality and independence so that they are carried out with ethical values and legal regulations in force.

The objective is to make sure that European ethical criteria on protection of vertebrate animals used for experimental purposes or others are met. These criteria point out that “human beings must respect animals and must be aware that they can suffer and think. In research, health and security tasks, human beings may need animals when they are likely to be successful for science, people and animals, as used for food, clothes and transport.”

Before launched, any research project in the UV, or in collaboration with it, needs a favourable report of the procedures’ correction by the Authorised Body. Thus, another report is needed to have access to financing announcements.
