‘The obstinacy to bloom’ Conference
Face-to-face

The Gandia UV International Centre to host a conference arranged by María Sánchez, Andalusian veterinarian, writer, poet and feminist.

UVgandia suggests reflecting on the bonds between people, animals, memory and territory through the conference titled ‘The obstinacy to bloom’, organised by the Andalusian veterinarian, writer, poet and feminist María Sánchez.

Sánchez (1989) is a field veterinarian and writer. She works with endangered indigenous species and she is the author of four books: Fuego la sed, Almáciga. Un vivero de palabras de nuestro medio rural; Tierra de mujeres. Una mirada íntima y familiar al mundo rural y Cuaderno de campo.

On 2021, she received the Princess of Girona Arts Award (Premio Princesa de Girona de Artes y Letras) “for her work as a poet, writer and activist in defending rural culture, especially the forgotten role women play in the countryside”, among other awards and recognitions she has obtained.

Among other topics, her writing explores these bonds, which she will bring to Gandia on Tuesday 24 March at 06:30pm.

Date 24 march 2026 at 18:30 to 19:30. Tuesday.
