Born in the heart of València, Joaquim Sorolla i Bastida is the most renowned Valencian painter in the world. Sorolla was given his father-in-law support and started his first painting studios after his training in the Escola d’Artesans (Catalan for Artisan School) and the Real Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sant Carles (Catalan for Saint Charles Royal Academy of Fine Arts of València). Despite the fact that when he became famous he settled in Madrid, our painter never lost contact with his hometown. He came back to València to rest and enjoy whenever work permitted. In fact, he was fascinated by its light, its landscapes, its parties and its people.

Gathering at 9:30 a.m. in the Square of the Mercat Central (at the door of La Llotja). The tour will take us to the places where he spent his years of training as a painter and the beginnings of Sorolla's artistic career. The visit will finish in the Museu de Belles Arts, where we will visit the exhibition “Sorolla y su tiempo” (Spanish for Sorolla and his time).

The price of the visit is €15, lunch included. Remember to always carry your AlumniUV Card. In all tours and visits, if the entrance tickets must be paid, it means that they are not included in the price.
