The Universitat de València Choir opens access trials for newcomers of the 2025-2026 season

Universitat de Valencia Choir (OUV), the oldest university choir of the state born in 1974, opens the access trials inscription period until 10 October: click here. Requirements are being over 18 years old and being either a university or music student.

The OUV career depicts its dynamic nature and displays its quality, having collaborated with several and renowned orchestras, conductors and soloists, travelled around the world and performed at important auditoriums and festivals.

It has received a great deal of awards and prizes by institutions like Generalitat Valenciana, València City HallValencian Ministry of CultureUV, UPV, Sant Carles Academy and Valencian Music Academy among many others.

The Choir aims not only for vocal and performance quality but also social action and cooperation between entities.

2025-2026 Season
The season starts with projects including dedicated oncerts for the retrieval and promotion of Valencian repertoire: the first one is dedicated to Valencian music during the Bach era, and the second one will be a collaboration with conductor of the Spain National Choir since 2010 Mireia Barrera with a programme dedicated to writer Maria Beneyto including a release of composer Isabel Manyes along with post-war Valencian repertoire.

OUV will also collaborate with Música Trobada and the Tortosa Chamber Orchestra, going to Madrid and Tortosa to perform Missa en Fa by Johann Sebastian Bach in two concenrts.

The Bach Connections cycle will end in Christmas with African Christmas Bach, a programme by Jesús Salvador Chapi in collaboration with Proletaris del RitmeLa Luna de Àfrica and some of the most celebrated musicians of the Valencian scene with a fusion of Bach, jazz, rap and African music.

2026 will commence with a programme of West-European music with a record of Valencian patrimony and two theatre projects along with other repertoires.

Commited to musical education
OUV organises the CERCANT course dedicated to choir conduction and singing with state and international teachers of high prestige. The Superior Centre ESMAR collaborates since last year with the practical lessons of the Degree in Conduction. OUV also collaborates with public observatories and other entities with awarenes activities and musical education.

The Choir promotes musical activities and concerts for the musical studies of its members, to improve their training with professional projects along big names of the musical scene.

'More than a choir'
According to OUV president Pedro Díez 'The choir is far more than a music group. It is formed by people of all ages, even if mainly by university students. Every person experiencing their time in the choir holds the memory in high regard thanks to the commitment and bonds created with each concert and rehearsal. The musical vitality of the Choir, the intense activities it provides. OUV leaves a positive and rewarding mark on its members'.
