Gandia will have official master's degrees in the 2026/2027 course

The Mayor of Gandia and the Principal of the Universitat de València agree to begin the paperwork to institute offers in higher education. The announcement took place during the presentation of the 42nd edition of the Gandia Summer University, which is to happen between 9 and 18 July and will have an opening ceremony by full-time university professor Joan Romero.

The Universitat de València and the City Council of Gandia have agreed this morning to begin the paperwork to institute official master's degrees in the city during the 2026-2027 course. It was announced by the Mayor of Gandia, José Manuel Prieto, and UV Principal, Mavi Mestre, this morning after the meeting between the representatives of both institutions. Mayor Prieto appeared satisfied “with an agreement that will increase opportunities and improve training possibilities towards the future”.  It will increase opportunities, according to Priedo, “for an exceptionally high number of students that move around Valencia and who will stay in our city to then train themselves with these master's degrees. Thus, many students will be able to come to our city to complete their training.’ Additionally, he highlighted the City Council intention stating that the Universitat de València uses the building of the Tossal street completely. In this sense, Prieto pointed out: “We share with the Universitat de València a vision of future and university presence projection in Gandía. As well as the will to reinforce the centre of Gandia as a stable space of higher academic offer, as in this case the implementation, promotion and support of official master's degree programmes in multiple areas of knowledge”.

On her end, the Principal of the Universitat de València highlighted that this decision does not only improve the training opportunities of the students from la Safor and surrounding regions, but also the entrepreneurial and economic tissue of the region.  Additionally, she explained that the mixed commission of both institutions will be working the following weeks, jointly with the Deans of the UV, to stablish the offer of master's degree programmes and implementing it paying attention as well to the needs laid out by the City Council. Both representatives have shown the will to strengthen the UV Centre of Gandia as a stable space of higher education offer, as in this case the implementation, promotion and support of official master's degree programmes in multiple areas of knowledge”.

The 42nd edition of the Summer University of Gandia.

The announcement of the implementation of the official master's degrees has taken place during the presentation of the 42nd edition of theSummer University of Gandia which, this year, has as “Vulnerability and Resilience” and will take place between 9 and 18 July. The UEG opening ceremony will be done by full-time university professor Joan Romero on the afternoon of 9 July, under the title of “Europe’s moment. Without a social Europe there is no political Europe, and without political Europe it is impossible to consolidate a geopolitical Europe with its own autonomy”, Carme Melo, Head of the Gandia Internacional Centre, was in charge of presenting this edition’s programme, which includes orientation and professional update courses, specialisation courses and dissemination courses. Additionally, the programme of the activities open to the citizens was presented. Throughout the following day the complete programme will be revealed.
