Presentation of the Initiatives Guide of Sustainable Alimentary Consumption

Last Friday 8 October, the act of the presentation of the Initiatives Guide of Sustainable Alimentary Consumption in the Universitat de València took place in the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry. It was made by the Sustainability Commission of the University, supported by the Vide-principal of Equality, Diversity and Sustainability.

The presentation act included the participation of Mª. Vicente Mestre, principal of the Universitat de València, Marta Chillarón, manager of the Foundation of Las Naves-Social and Urban Innovation Centre of the Valencia City Council, Antoni Mereles, dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry of the Universitat de València, and Elena Martínez García, vice-principal of Equality, Diversity and Sustainability. The Guide was prepared by Sergi Belda, professor of Economy in the UV and one of its coauthors.

In the framework of this Guide, the first activity that was proposed in it has been implemented, specifically the agroecological Market of the Universitat de València. It was planned having as reference a study-project framework made by Ana Belda with the sponsorship and funding of L'Horta de València Chair: metropolitan territory.  This on-site market will be celebrated on Friday mornings during October 2021 as a pilot experience, specifically between the lecture rooms I and III of the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, entering directly from Menéndez y Pelayo street. This market starts in its initial structure with the collaboration of L’Horta de València Chair: metropolitan territory, the Chair for Economy for the Common Good, the Viceprincipal of Equality, Diversity and Sustainability, the Foundation of Las Naves-Social and Urban Innovation Centre of the Valencia City Council, and the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry of the UV.
