WU Vienna Announces the 15th Doctoral Seminar about International and EU Fiscal Law

The Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) is proud to announce the 15th edition of the Doctoral Seminar on International Taxation Law and from the EU, which is to be held on 8 and 9 September 2025 at their campus in Vienna, Austria.

This prestigious seminar, jointly organised by the universities of Bergamo, Groningen, Heidelberg, KU Leuven, UCLouvain, Linz, Luxemburg and Valencia, offers a unique opportunity for international, European and compared taxation law doctoral students to present their research and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts made up of renowned professors and professionals from the taxation field, including EU institutions.

This seminar is aimed at second and third year doctoral students, who will be able to present their research projects or key results, depending on the level of progress of their studies. Each presentation will be followed by a detailed debate with the invited experts. With the goal to promote a profound debate and to guarantee good quality feedback, a maximum of 12 presentations will be admitted.

Additionally, first year doctoral students will be able to participate in the seminar without the need to present anything, to get comfortable with the academic environment and the debates of the field.


Application requirements

Those interested in participating will have to send an application including:

  • brief CV.
  • An exhibition of one page describing:
    •  
    • Research question.
    • Hypothesis to prove.
    • Methodological framework.
    • Preliminary results.
    • Innovative contribution of the project.
    • Current estate of the research.

The deadline to send applications is 15 June 2025. The selected candidates will be notified before 30 June 2025.

The event will be held at the WU Vienna headquarters, located at Welthandelsplatz 1, Building D3, Seminars Room D3.2.243, 1020 Vienna, Austria. Organisers will cover the food expenses, but participants will have to cover the travel and accommodation themselves. Those needing financial aid can apply for a travel grant when doing the application.
