Official opening of the 23-24 season: GESMED training programs to promote active aging (Fundación GESMED, UIRFIDE, COLEFCV)

This Thursday, September 21, 2023, the FCAFE Degree Hall hosted the presentation of the GESMED training programs to promote active aging, the result of the renewal of the collaboration agreement between the GESMED Foundation, the group of research UIRFIDE GIU-UV 2013-140, the Illustrious Professional College COLEFCV and the Association Entrenamiento con Mayores (EcM). The event was attended by Mr. Joan Ignasi Pla, president of the GESMED Foundation, the Dean of FCAFE, Dr. Ferran Calabuig, Dr. Cristina Blasco-Lafarga on behalf of the research group and the Department of Physical Education; as well as the manager of the COLEF-CV, Mr. Eduardo Grimal.

The seniors who filled the Graduation Hall expressed their joy and gratitude for the maintenance of this proposal. All have made it clear that this collaboration between the University and Empressa enriches university research while providing an important service to groups that need it most, such as older adults. It is also an excellent opportunity to train young professionals who have graduated from the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.

Among others, the GESMED ACTIU, GESMED MARXA and GESMED COMPANYA programs continue: New programs are also opening in collaboration in the Social Psychology and Physiotherapy departments to deal with issues of personal autonomy and self-esteem, and pelvic floor. It has also been explained the alternative ways open so that adults can continue in these programs by becoming co-participants in them.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the group of our older users who came from the "Salvador Pau, Argentina Republic, Chile" Health Council, who participated in the event. Without them, these presentations would be meaningless!
