New publication examines the impact of CLIL and extramural English on primary writing, highlighting the role of everyday activities in outcomes.

Delighted to share a new publication by Irene Guzmán Alcón in the Journal of Immersion and Content-Based Language Education. This article, “The impact of intensity of CLIL programmes and extramural English on primary school students’ communicative appropriateness in writing”, examines how both CLIL intensity and extramural exposure to English influence primary students’ writing. The results highlight that not only classroom learning, but also everyday activities (such as watching TV in English), significantly contribute to learners’ outcomes, particularly for those with lower levels of CLIL exposure.

The study offers valuable insights for rethinking how we approach multilingual education beyond the classroom setting.
