The CRUE Spanish Universities, together with the Research Dissemination and Scientific Culture (RedDivulga) of the Crue’s Sectorial Commission for R+D+I and the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation launched the fifth edition of the #HiloTesis: Tu tesis doctoral en redes.
The aim of this initiative, in which research staff from the Universitat de València can participate, is to promote scientific dissemination and the development of communication skills for future scientifics. The competition will run from 0:00am on 3 June to 11:59pm on 17 June 2024 (Spanish time).
The contest is forwarded to those research people in training that are developing their doctoral thesis or that have defended their thesis the last 12 months. Through this call, they are invited to present their research in a thread format in the BlueSky social media, adapting the content of their thesis into a simple language and visually attractive, with the aim of bringing closer their results to society. Last year, 362 thesis were submitted from 49 universities members of the CRUE.
With the support of the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation, the call tries to reinforce the social relevance of research, considering it as a key pillar for a more open, fair and balanced society, as the Crue Universidades Españolas has informed.
All research people enrolled in doctoral programmes or that have defended their thesis during the last 12 months, will be able to participate as long as they are members of the CRUE associated universities. It is a requirement that all participants count with the authorisation of the thesis supervisor and are compromised to guarantee that all shared information is adequate for public diffusion, respecting in any case possible agreements of confidentiality.
Any post or submission after the deadline will not be accepted. Once published the thread or carousel, contestants must register or provide the link via the following form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/XSdPMELDza. Posts not correctly registered via form, after said deadline or if the link provided is incorrect will also not be accepted.
The first post of the thread or carousel must include the hashtag #HiloTesis and, if possible, quote or tag @crueuniversidades.bsky.social, @filarramendi.bsky.social, and the participating university’s account or its UCC+I (Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation), if they have one. In the case of the Universitat de València, both the institution (@uv.es) and the UCC+i (@ucciuv.bsky.social) count with this social media.
Those who participate will be able to enrich their presentation with visual elements such as pictures, videos, links and emoji, with the aim of making their work more attractive and comprehensible. In addition, the thread or carousel can be posted in any of Spain’s co-official languages, but the university must provide a version translated into Spanish if selected for the national phase.
With this contest the compromise of the CRUE with scientific dissemination and fomentation of effective communication of the research is reinforced, with the purpose of bringing closer the academic and scientific work to society.
Soon the welcome institutional act of the fifth edition of #HiloTesis will be celebrated and we will get to know all participant universities in this year’s call.
