The Centre d’Idiomes has officially welcomed this week the students arriving from the Tongwen Institute of Beijing Foreign Studies University, an event that marks the beginning of a new academic and personal stage for young people who have chosen Spain as their university destination. The arrival of this group also reinforces the international profile of the centre and its commitment to excellence in language education.

The Chinese students will join the intensive Spanish courses running from January to July. The programme allows progression from level A2 to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, provided that students successfully pass the placement exams required to move on to the next level. This continuous assessment system ensures that each student is placed in the group best suited to their actual skills and learning needs.

From day one, the Centre d’Idiomes has made its message clear: this is not just a language course, but the beginning of the students’ future university careers in Spain. Mastery of Spanish will be a key tool for their academic and social integration, and the centre guarantees that the training provided is designed to help students achieve the linguistic skills required to obtain the official DELE Spanish certificate, a fundamental requirement for successful entry into the Spanish university system.

The teaching methodology combines intensive classes with a practical and communicative approach. The aim is not only to learn grammar or vocabulary, but to develop real competence in comprehension, oral and written expression, and the use of Spanish in academic and everyday contexts. “We want students to feel confident using the language both inside and outside the classroom,” the academic management team explains.

In addition to the core academic programme, the Centre d’Idiomes has prepared a wide range of complementary activities for these students and for all international learners. These include reading workshops, collaborative projects and practical exercises designed to apply Spanish in controlled environments. Markets, museums and the university campus itself become living learning spaces, where the language is no longer just a subject but a real-life experience.

These activities are designed to reinforce classroom learning and encourage interaction among students from different nationalities. Teamwork and exposure to real situations help improve fluency, expand vocabulary and build confidence—essential aspects for those planning to continue their studies at Spanish universities.

The social and cultural dimension also plays a central role in the educational experience. Outside class hours, the centre organises activities aimed at introducing students to the city and the surrounding region, helping them connect with local culture. Cultural visits, meetings with university students and shared leisure activities foster a spirit of companionship and strengthen students’ sense of belonging to the academic community.

For many of these young people, this is their first long-term experience outside China. For this reason, academic and personal support is essential. The Centre d’Idiomes is committed to an integrated welcome model in which language learning goes hand in hand with support for cultural and university adaptation.

Collaboration with institutions such as the Tongwen Institute of Beijing Foreign Studies University consolidates the Centre d’Idiomes as a benchmark in teaching Spanish to international students. At the same time, it strengthens educational ties between Spain and China in a global context where academic mobility and cultural exchange are increasingly important.

With this new group of students, the centre begins a semester full of challenges and opportunities. For the students, it represents the first step towards their future university studies in Spain; for the Centre d’Idiomes, it confirms its mission: to train competent, autonomous speakers capable of successfully integrating into the Spanish academic and social environment.
