At the ICBiBE (Canavilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology), there are approximately six climatic chambers with different capabilities, adapted for various types of experimental trials and for the maintenance/management of biological samples.

This equipment enables the control and programming of environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity and photoperiod, which allows the recreation of controlled and reproducible environmental conditions. The chambers operate within an estimated range of 4 °C to 30 °C and have LED lighting systems for the simulation of the day/night cycle.

The climatic chambers are used in experiments and in management of various biological samples, including plants, insects, microorganisms and vertebrates. They are a fundamental tools for biodiversity, ecology, physiology and management studies.

The available equipment includes cameras with different sizes and capabilities, as well as a monitoring systems through warning sounds in the event of temperature variability in order to guarantee the stability of experimental conditions.

Furthermore, the ICBiBE has a large-format terrarium intended for the management and study of organisms in controlled environmental conditions. This enables specific habitats to be recreated and trials related to behaviour, ecology, and animal physiology to be conducted.
