
Friends and Former Students of the Universitat de València has organized five new activities on January 2015. The association will start this new year with a new meeting of the Reading Club, which will discuss about the novel Brodeck's Report by Philippe Claudel; “Alumni Comparteix” will be dedicated to know the world of farmworkers and sailors; and it will be done three cultural trips to El Miguelete Tower, the Eixample and Torreblanca.
This association of the Universitat de València offers on January two free activities. On the one hand, the Reading Club, which will take place in the “Palacio de la Exposición” Municipal Library on Tuesday 13 at 18:30, will focus on the work of Philippe Claudel. Members of this club will read Brodeck’s Report, a novel awarded with the prestigious Goncourt Award in 2007, which ends his research about chiaroscuros of human soul.
On the other hand, Alumni Comparteix is the second free series organised by Friends and Former Students since last September. On 28 January, it will take place a lecture about “Labradores y Marineros, dos formas de vida” (Farmworkers and sailors, two lifestyles) given by Maria Roser Cabrera, doctor in Catalan Philology, author of the Traditional Culture for Secondary Education subject and member of Friends and Former Students. The lecture, which will get close both worlds, will take place at the headquarters of Friends and Former Students (Amadeu de Savoia, 4-7th floor) at 17:00. Completely free admission. Walks around the city and Valencian castles
On January, it will continue the walks around the city centre. On 22 January, Friends and Former Students will visit El Miguelete Tower, guided by Francesc Llop, bell-ringer of the cathedral, and, on 31 January, the association will walk around the Eixample, Ruzafa neighbourhood, with Rafael Company, an expert on Art History.
Also, on 1st February and included in the series “Valencian Castles”, this UV association will travel to Torreblanca to visit the medieval towers placed next to the sea and a ghost town during a rural walk to Miravet fortress, Tossal and Oropesa Castle.
These three trips are organized in collaboration with Club de Viatges Fil-per-Randa.
