Juan Fabregat.

Full university professor of astronomy of Universitat de València, Juan Fabregat, will talk on Thursday at the Real Economic Society of Friends of the Valencian Community about “World diversity: a story of two thousand planets” The conference starts at 19 h a the assembly hall of the historical building of the Professional Music Conservatory of Valencia (San Esteban Place, 3).

Numerous thinkers posed that the universe is populated with an infinity of worlds which are very similar to ours, since ancient times. But it was not until the end of the XX century when progress of science and technology allowed us discover the first planets around other stars different to the Sun. Nowadays we know more than two thousand of these stars. In the talk, Fabregat will show the most recent results of this research from this great show of  celestial bodies. It will specially show that the planets which seem to be most similar to Earth are plentiful in the nearby universe. It will also describe the founding of new worlds of nature which were unknown until now, and that they do not have any similarity to any of the planets which inhabit in our System Solar.
Juan Fabregat Llueca is an Astronomy full university professor of Universitat de València He is a Valencian scientist of international prestige who has particularly worked too much on binary sources of X rays and other subjects related to the origin and formation of celestial bodies. Some of its lines of research are nature and physic parameters of Be stars, the study of young star clusters and the stellar evolution. He has worked as Director of the Astrophysics Observatory of Universitat de València and he is the author of two books and of numerous articles of research in international journals such as: Astronomy & Astrophysics, Astrophysics and Space Science, The Astrophysical Journal or Monthly Notices *of the Royal Astronomical Society.
