Los Pequeños Cantores de Valencia, at La Nau Cloister, as part of the Serenade festival

Pequeños Cantores de Valencia.

This 34 edition of Serenade festival in the cloister, organized by UV and CulturArts, follows in La Nau with the performance on this Tuesday, 1 July, of the group Los Pequeños Cantores de Valencia (Little Singers of Valencia). The entrance to the concert (10:30 p.m) is free; the invitation must be collected one hour before in the building’s reception.

Serenade 2014 offers, in addition, the collaboration with Music Palace of Valencia, Valencia City Council, UV General Founding, Sabadell Bank and Cruzcampo Founding, from Heineken Group.

Directed by Carmina Moreno Llabata and with piano accompaniment by Jesús Debón Alcodorí, Little Singers of Valencia will play a diverse programme with pieces of several authors, such as Mozart, Mendelsshon, Cesar Frank, Offenbach, Lennon and McCartney, Carole King or Coleman, among others.

It so happens that this year Los Pequeños Cantores de Valencia celebrate its 50 anniversary and Serenades in the Cloister have been jointing this celebration with the scheduling of this concert

Los Pequeños Cantores de Valencia, Golden Medal of Valencia City, is a choir, consisting on 90 teenagers, aged between 12 and 18 years old. It was founded in 1963 by Jesús Ribera Faig. With a history of 50 years, it has had a very prestigious incidence on choral music, over these years it has performed more than 700 concerts and 47 tours around Spain and in fifteen European countries.

The band participated in several festivals and contests and received important awards from International Prize of Child Choirs in the International Contest of Music, in Llangollen, in 1970, to the Silver Medal in III International Festival of Young Music, in Bratislava, in 2011.

Several interchanges have been realized with other Spanish, Argentinian, Austrian, French and German Choirs. They have interpreted more than twenty symphonic plays and chorales with professional orchestra, being directed by well-known national and international directors. They explored all kinds of musical repertory and have registered a big quantity of discs.

Nowadays, many old members of Los Pequeños Cantores de Valencia, are between the best adults choirs in the city and twenty of them have founded or direct other Valencian choirs.

Because of the celebration in 2013/14 of 50th anniversary, Los Pequeños Cantores de Valencia have performed great commemorative concerts at the Music Palace, gathering tenths of Valencian Choirs in an extraordinary series of concerts, undertaking tributes and several ceremonies, as the edition of a book and the holding of an exhibition.

The presence of Valencian choirs in Serenades culminates with this concert, which started on 29 June with the assistance of the Choral Group from Valencia and will finished on 5 July in presence of Valencian Government Choir.

This year, the festival offers eleven concerts, from 24 June to 7 July, in the Cloister of the Cultural Center La Nau. They all begin at 10:30 p.m. and tickets are free with invitation which must be collected from one hour before, in the reception of the historical building of the University.
