
The Universitat de València celebrates this month the 17 edition of the Setmana de la Ciència, la Tecnologia i la Innovació (Science, Technology and Innovation Week) with different activities organised by the The objective of this programme is to encourage the science vocation of the youngest, and also contribute to the promotion of scientific culture of society in general.
In fact, next Friday, during the award ceremony of the Ciutat d’Alzira Literary Prizes, the XXI European Scientific Dissemination Award of the Universitat de València will be awarded, with an endowment of 12,000 euros, and to which seven manuscripts have been presented.
Among the proposals addressed to the Secondary Education and Bachillerato Centres there are Mathematical tours, in collaboration with the Sociedad de Educación Matemática de la Comunidad Valenciana Al-Khwârizmî (Al-Khwârizmî Mathematic Education Society of the Valencian Community)-, conferences by scientists, as well as geology, astronomy and mathematics workshops that will take place at Burjassot-Paterna Campus.
During this 17 edition of the Semana Europea de la Ciencia (European Science Week) the project La Maleta de la Ciencia (The Science Suitcase), which has the financing of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, will be presented. La Maleta de la Ciencia (The Science Suitcase) is a teaching resource that contains easy experiments within the reach of families and schools, which is based on the work with the same title by professor Enric Ramiro. The Octubre Contemporary Culture Centre of Valencia will host next Thursday 26 November, at 19:00, this act and will count with the presence of Ramiro but also of the professor Fernando Sapiña, of the Universitat de València.
IN COLLABORATION WITH ESPAI CIÈNCIA
The Universitat de València, in collaboration with Espai Ciència promoted by Insitut d’Estudis Catalans, also participates in several acts organised in the Octubre Centre. For example, the round table, La ciència en la literatura (The Science in Lterature), on 21 November, on the occasion of the publication of the homonymous book by Xavier Duran. In this appointment -part of the programme of Plaza del Libro 2015- Anna Moner and Martí Domínguez will have a debate with the author, moderated by Juli Peretó.
Finally, on Monday 23 November the Bar de Ciencias (Science Bar) entitled¿De dónde venimos? (Where do we come from?)will take place, on the occasion of the publication of the bookOrígenes (Origins)and of number 87 (Autumn 2015) of Mètode Magazine of the Universitat de València, which dedicates its monographic to the origin of life. Researcher Carlos Briones, from the Centro de Astrobiología INTA-CSIC (Astrobiology Centre), and Alberto Fernández Soto, from the Instituto de Física Cantabria, (UC-CSIC), will participate, moderated by journalist Reyes Juan.
