Sanchis Sinisterra and Ferreira speak about cinema and European theatre in La Nau

The Valencian dramatist José Sanchis Sinisterra, known by ‘Ay Carmela’ and one of the most awarded and represented authors of the contemporary Spanish theatre will speak about the possible ‘Fictions for a real Europe’ with Patricia Ferreira, director and scriptwriter for cinema and television, with an prolific career, awarded with a Goya for ‘Sé quién eres’. today Tuesday, 3 May in the Cultural Centre La Nau. The speech will take place at 19:00, in the Paranymph.

It will be open and is in the frame of the Dialogue Cycle ‘A dónde va Europa’, organised by the Foundation Cañada Blanch with the collaboration of the Universitat de València, the Cultural Centre La Nau and Le Monde diplomatique in Spanish. The conference will be given by president of the Foundation Cañada Blanc, Juan López-Trigo and the dialog will be moderated by the vice-principal for Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València, Antonio Ariño. 

Patricia Ferreira and José Sanchis Sinisterra will debate about the paper of the cinema and the theatre in Europe. 

Patricia Ferreria is director and scriptwriter of cinema and television. She developed her career in known series and programmes like ‘Un país en la mochila’, ‘Todo el mundo es música’, ‘Paraísos cercanos’ or ‘Equinoccio’.  Her first films, ‘Sé quién eres’ won a Goya but she has nominations for other films like ‘El alquimista impaciente’, ‘El Mundo a cada rato’ or ‘Los niños salvajes’. Now she is preparing the shooting of her new film ‘Thi Mai’ and is writing the scrip of a new film, ‘el fantasma del cine Goya’.  

Graduated in Image Sciences and Journalism in the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, founding member and chair of the Management Board of CIME, association of women filmmakers, has been member of the Management Board of the Cinema Academy. She is Direction teacher in the Cinema School of Madrid (ECAM) and has given classes in lots of centres like the ESCAC in Barcelona or the cinema school of Montevideo, among others, as well as in several professional master's degrees  of the universities Ramón Llull, Carlos III or La Coruña, among other institutions. 

José Sanchis Sinisterra graduated in Philosophy, has worked as teacher and full university professor of Language and Literature in several high schools and universities, among them the Autónoma of Barcelona where he found the Teatro Fronterizo or the Cultural Association ‘Escena Alternativa’. Moreover, he has been artistic director of the The Festival of the Ibero-American Theatre of Cadiz, of the Theatre Metastasio, Stabile della Toscana, member of the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE), and founder of the Nuevo Teatro Fronterizo, which started recently. 

He has given courses, seminars and workshops of textual, actor, narrative and writer drama in 15 Spanish cities, France, Italy, Portugal, Tunisia and Morocco, as well as in the most of the countries in Latin America. He has published essays and articles of theatrical theory and pedagogy in several journals.
