Today, in La Nau the lecture “In defence of graphic design” with Félix Beltrán

Today, Tuesday 2 December, Félix Beltrán, designer and lecturer, will give the lecture “In defence of graphic design” (En defensa del diseño gráfico) in Seminar Hall in La Nau Cultural Centre. The lecture, which is included in the Fòrum de Debats programme and has the collaboration of the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny of Valencia (ESAD, Art and Design School), will take place at 19:00 and it will be presented by Manuel García, art critic.

Félix Beltran was born in La Habana (1983) and he worked in New York (1956-59), where he graduated in the School of Visual Arts and in the American Art School of New York. 

He has participated in several group and individual exhibitions. Their works are in different national and international museums. In 1992, he organized a graphic design workshop in the Arts and Profession School of Valencia (Escuela de Artes y Oficios). He has different awards and he is Doctor Honoris Causa of the International University Foundation, Delaware, and in the Universidad de San Luis Potosí, Mexico. He has written Desde el diseño (La Habana, 1970), Letragrafía (La Habana, 1973), Acerca del diseño (La Habana, 1975) and the monograph Símbolos, símbolos y más símbolos.

He is director-lecturer in the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico and consultant in the Escuela Nacional de Diseño of INBA (Mexico). Nowadays, he collaborates with the Bienal Internacional del Cartel (Mexico) and the Bienal Iberoamericana del Diseño (Madrid).
