The Valencian Department for Justice, Public Administration, Democratic Reforms and Public Liberties, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-principal for Culture of the UV, organises today at the Cultural Centre La Nau a tribute on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In this event, which will start at 19:00 in the Sapiència Chapel, it will participate the vice-principal for Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València, Antonio Ariño; and the Justicia, Administración Pública, Reformas Democráticas y Libertades Públicas counsellor, Gabriela Bravo. The event aims at paying tribute to the 700 Valencian people who were deported to the Nazi concentration camps in which more than 400 died. Moreover, it expects to be a symbol of recognition and respect which also remembers the almost 9000 Spanish people who were deported to the Nazi camps. The Holocaust represented the extermination of almost two-thirds of the European Jewish population (six millions) and more than a million of the gypsy population.

The tribute will end with the show ‘Música en la memoria’ performed by Tono Ruano, bassoon and Luis Vallés, piano.
