As the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern caused by an outbreak of a novel coronavirus in China (2019-nCov), UV maintains contact with the health authorities regarding the protocol collaboration and the possible safety recommendations.
The coronavirus (CoV) is a family of viruses that may cause various related conditions - from the common cold to more severe diseases. These infections are often characterised by fever and respiratory symptoms (like cough and dyspnoea or the difficulty of breathing).
To stop the infection from spreading, the doctors usually recommend practicing proper handwashing and respiratory hygiene (cover the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing) as well as cooking meat and eggs thoroughly. Additionally, one should avoid direct contact with any person showing the signs of a respiratory condition, like cough or sneezing. These recommendations also concern many other common illnesses, like, for example, flu.
To stay away from fake news, it is suggested to follow the updates published on the websites of the Ministry of Health of Spain and the Valencian Health Ministry - Conselleria de Sanitat i Salut Pública.
