
The colombian university Umanizales has invested honorary professor of the Universitat de València Javier García Gómez new ‘doctor honoris causa’ of the academic institution. The ceremony has been led by the principal Guillermo Orlando Sierra Sierra and the laudatio of García Gómez has been pronounced by Professor Ciro Alfonso Serna Mendoza.
Javier García Gómez belongs to the Department of Experimental and Social Sciences Teaching of the Faculty of Teacher Training and the Interdisciplinary Research Structure for Sustainability. He is full university professor at the Universitat de València, for thirty years he has taught Ecology and Environmental Education, Didactics of Natural Sciences and Didactics of Environmental Education. He has been professor on several PhD programmes at the Universitat de València and on postgraduate specialization courses, master and PhD courses at Latin American universities and institutions in Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile and Cuba. He has directed seven doctoral theses and fifteen master's theses on environmental issues. He has written more than 150 papers that he has presented at scientific meetings or published in journals or books on environmental issues and environmental education.
