The conference starts with a historical review of the appearance of the first magnets and how they influenced in that time. A few basic concepts are introduced to understand the Earth magnetic field and the role of the magnetosphere (Geomagnetism). The magnetic reversions of the planet and the hazards they entail will be discussed. Next, the presence of magnets in living beings and their role (Biomagnetism) will be analysed and finally magnetic nanoparticles (nanomagnets) and their use in IT and Medicine (nanosurgeons).
