Hidden Figures. Cinema at the Botanic
To close the Dones i Ciència al Botànic (Women and Science at the Botanic) series, we will screen the film Figuras Ocultas (Hidden Figures) in VOSE. It is based on the namesake book by Margot Lee Shetterly. The acclaimed film is directed by Theodore Melfi and written by Melfi and Allison Schroeder. It relates the story of the Afro-american mathematician Katherine Johnson and her colleagues Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. They were an all-woman scientific team which provided the NASA an important amount of mathematics data to develop the first launching program of a space mission.
