Encajar un cautiverio. 63 días que cambiaron nuestra realidad (Spanish for Embedding captivity. 63 days that shifted our reality) arises from conversations between creators and artists about the 63 days of confinement. These conversations reflect the concerns about the social and emotional drift and the impact on group identity that the Covid-19 socio-health crisis is having on each of us and on our society.

In this new stage that we are all discovering together, there have been many different reactions and behaviours. They are as different as they are opposed.

We have witnessed actions of solidarity, dedication, and altruism that we have seen before, but perhaps never at these levels. But we have also witnessed displays of selfishness, irresponsibility, and lack of solidarity in equal measure.

At times, from some media and social networks, there have been cases of authentically scavenging and disloyal behaviour, to poison national politics at all levels, or exclusively pursuing economic interests.

The reasons for some of these behaviours often seem to us to be inexplicable because they apparently have no use or benefit for anyone. Even so, they have occurred, in a way that is as numerous as it is overwhelming.

Because of this and, in a way, also because of this, critical thinking has once again been awakened among us. All of us.

We live in a confinement amidst the noise. A loneliness plagued by voices, with very different energies and intentions. Capable of filling us with hope or of sinking us into desolation. The greater the noise, the stronger the need to recover reflection, the individuality of critical thinking. Our own voice.

A truth that lacks intention, but not interest. With these premises we propose to shape this exhibition, created by works confined to the same tessitura, condition and place.

These are works and proposals by 26 creators from the city of Valencia who propose a vision that accompanies the viewer, born from silence and reflection. Works that aim to create society. Not necessarily patching up the unevenness, but more either by knitting a new one. A better group identity capable of withstanding the coming crises.

This project arises from the participative exercise of a multidisciplinary network of creators from different fields, with exponents from the world of sculpture, speech or video creation that can offer a global and differentiated vision of what we have all experienced on these dates.

A silent critical thought that helps us to fight the noise that this stage of humanity has become.
