La historia del comunismo contada para enfermos mentales, by Matei Visniec.
By the Contemporary Theatre Club / University of Alacant.
Translated by Francesc Sanguino.
Directed by: Francesc Sanguino.

La historia del comunismo recounts the visit of a Soviet government supporter writer, Iuri Petrovsky, a few days before Stalin's death, to the Central Hospital for the Mentally Ill in Moscow. The purpose of the visit is to talk to the mentally ill about the communist regime because they believe this will improve their health, but in reality it is just an excuse to talk about the goodness of the system and, if necessary, to find counter-revolutionaries who pretend to be sick.
The play ironically narrates the paroxysm that any totalitarian political system reaches sooner or later, but above all it is a pure comedy, even grotesque, typical of traditional contemporary European humour.

Theater tickets can be booked in advance at la Tenda de la Universitat (UV shop) at La Nau, and at the University campus, or on its website (http://www.latenda.es/entrades). Tickets €3
