Encuentros y desencuentros: retratos de la conexión (Encounters and Misencounters: Portraits of Connection) presents the first edition of the Acquisition Programme of the Public Universities and the Cañada Blanch Collections. This innovative programme has been launched with the firm conviction that dialogue and cooperation between different institutions are essential for strengthening and enriching the cultural sphere of the Valencian Community.
This edition marks an important milestone with the accession of the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Universitat de València to the existing Cañada Blanch Foundation, with the aim of acquiring works of art that will enrich their respective collections. These collections bring art closer to civilian society, allowing the wider community to enjoy and reflect upon contemporary art. This commitment reinforces our support for and promotion of contemporary culture, ensuring that art is accessible and relevant to all.
The exhibition, Encuentros y desencuentros: retratos de la conexión, not only aims to reflect on the interconnectivity of technology, globalisation and history, but also hopes to serve as a testimony to human relationships and our connection with nature. The artwork acts as a bridge between worlds, disciplines and perspectives, representing the many ways in which we are connected. It invites viewers to reflect on how we live, experience and understand interconnection.
Going beyond mere technological interaction, the exhibit encompasses human relationships, the deep resonance with our natural surroundings, the constant dialogue between cultures and identities and the palpable influence of history on our current reality. It also explores the connections between different artistic techniques.
The exhibits inspires viewers to reflect on how, despite the diversity of our experiences, we share a common thread. The art pieces, regardless of their technique or material, address these intersections between human and natural life, in the past and the present, individually and collectively.
