Women in the cinema of the 2nd Republic

Lecture by Áurea Ortiz 

A panomaric view about women’s presence in front of and behind the cameras in Spanish cinema between 1931 and 1939, as well as the analysis of female characters, represented between tradition and modernity. 
Áurea Ortiz Villeta is a film historian, a team member of the Filmoteca Valenciana, professor of Art History at the Universitat de València and head of the Cinema Club at the same university.
Her research topics, expounded on publications, seminars, exhibitions and lectures, include the history of Spanish films, the relationship between cinema and the arts, and the representation of women in audiovisual production. She has been a jury member and a collaborator in numerous film festivals.
She currently reflects on series in Culturplaza and in the podcast Laboratorio de Investigación de Series (Podium Podcast).
