This round table is organised jointly by the Summer University of Gandia and the HumanFest festival, with the support of Teika. Its goal is to make visible the role of women through film.
Women of the World is a project of HumanFest specifically dedicated to new filmmakers and artists from which the works of women filmmakers from all over the world are made visible. This project has had screenings in France, Kenya and Senegal and has also produced two photo exhibitions by Ana Yturralde and Lola Pérez de Villegas Muñiz.
This is the first time that Women of the World is presented in the Valencian Community and that is why we have chosen the first works of three filmmakers who have chosen the documentary genre for their works from very different points of view: Marcia Castillo or with "Siete leguas" tells about functional diversity through a dance workshop; Claudia Estrada tells about the chilling witness of three victims of feminicide in Mexico in "Las floras que arrancas"; and finally Diana Díaz talks to us with a subtle and poetic language about the situation of eight Central American refugees in "Desde Centroamérica cono amor", produced by ACNUR.
