València will host from October 13 to 15 the third colloquium on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Second Republic with the title 'The Republic of Women', under the coordination of Ana Aguado. The Second Spanish Republic meant a turning point in relation to the construction of citizenship for women and their presence in public space. For the first time in the history of Spain, the new Republic had a particular egalitarian concern or sensitivity, because dealing with the improvement of the female condition was a key issue in the reformist and modernizing will of the new regime. The State Secretariat for Democratic Memory of the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, in collaboration with the Faculty of Geography and History of the University of València, the classroom of Democratic History and Memory and the Prometheus GEHTID Group of Excellence , have organized this colloquium, in person and online. Leading historians will participate in it, reflecting on what that democratic experience that was the Second Republic, established now 90 years ago, represented for women.
