For certain electronic microscopy techniques, uranium and thorium salts are used. The Radiation Protection Service will carry out the declaration procedure of the use of those salts by the different facilities that use them to the Nuclear Safety Council.

Solid, liquid and mixed waste from the use of those salts may exceed sometimes the exemption limits, thus it is necessary to inform the Radiation Protection Service of the use of uranium and thorium salts for the proper management of the wastes .
