The IDM develops a DNA sensor to identify transgenic products in food.

The identification of different transgenic products in food is a priority given their impact on environmental safety. Compliance with regulations on product labeling and traceability requires reliable, fast and inexpensive methods. The research group has developed a DNA sensor system that combines isothermal amplification in a multiple format and a hybridization assay. The system allows the simultaneous detection of the 35S promoter, the NOS terminator, and soybean, corn and potato taxa.
