Digital competence (DigComp) is one of the 8 key competences set out in the Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 on competences for lifelong learning and skills for the digital age.

It is defined as that “competence that involves the critical and safe use of Information Society Technologies for work, leisure and communication. Relying on basic ICT skills: use of computers to retrieve, evaluate, store, produce, present and exchange information, and to communicate and participate in collaborative networks via Internet”.
