The ethnographic maps of the Touring Club Italiano (1927-1952)

With maps, apart from science we make politics. In 1939 Alghero Catalans and other villages from Italia were deleted from an ethnographic map of Europe elaborated in Milan by the Touring Club Italiano. Such minorities have been represented on the map since 1927, but eventually the supporters of the dictator Mussolini imposed their most extreme fascist postulates on this work. This book, based on maps of <> of the 19th and 20th centuries, sheds light on the union of the cartographic, ethnologic and linguistics disciplines, ideological convictions and in the exercise of political power. The work, which has been awarded with the Premio Joan Coromines 2013 on philological, historical or cultural research, sponsored by the Sociedad Coral «El Micalet»,, reflects on the exogenous visions of some socio territorial identities which keep on gathering studies and impulses.
