The award recognises innovative ideas in the field of Sustainability and Circular Economy within the plastics industry.
The AIMPLAS-Universitat de València Chair awards an honorary mention to the project CARBONTEX: Textile discoloration with carbon dioxide in a super-critical state for recycling, developed by students from the Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (ETSE-UV).
This recognition was given within the framework of the IQ-Innovation Session of the Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering of the School of Engineering of the Universitat de València, held on 20 December 2024, an event that seeks to encourage innovation abilities in the field of chemical engineering.
The CARBONTEX project proposes a sustainable alternative for the decolouration of textiles via the usage of carbon dioxide in a super-critical state, reducing the usage of chemical products and water consumption in the processes of textile recycling. Its application could represent a significant advancement in circular economy and sustainable waste management.
The project team is composed by Adriana Gallego, Sergi González and Ariadna Martínez.
During the awards ceremony, Alicia Monleón and José Badia, representatives of the AIMPLAS-Universitat de València Chair, highlighted the project’s relevance and its impact potential in the textile industry, with an extensive valorisation of other plastic wastes. The honorary mention recognises the effort, creativity an applicability of the proposal, aligning itself with the goals of the Chair to encourage knowledge transfer and innovation in the industry.
With this recognition, the AIMPLAS-Universitat de València Chair reinforces its commitment to emergent talent and the development of technological solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future.
