Participation of the Head of Area of the General Subdirectorate of Nutrition of AESAN in the Master’Degree in Food Quality and Safety of the Faculty of Pharmacy (UV)

On Thursday 3rd October, the lecture 'Towards healthy and sustainable food systems. NAOS Strategies' was presented by Dr. María José Yusta Boyo, Head of Area of the General Subdirectorate of Nutrition of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN).

Dr. Yusta's current professional activity focuses on the development of public health initiatives to promote healthy diets and physical activity. She participates in the design, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs, interventions and activities to improve the food environment and facilitate healthier choices for all citizens, especially the most vulnerable populations, thereby reducing the risk of obesity and other diet-related non-communicable diseases.

Among the most important initiatives in which it has been involved is the Collaborative Plan for Improving the Composition of Foods and Beverages, among other measures. This action was included in the WHO report on dietary improvement strategies. Other initiatives include restrictions on food advertising aimed at children and adolescents, dietary recommendations, front-of-pack labelling of food and fixed measures to improve food and drink composition.
