La UV organiza la exposición "Memoria de la modernidad' de la Diputación de València

The Diputación de València and the Universitat de València present this exhibition, which is part of the program 'The Provincial Council in the regions', and which is the result of a research process of the patrimonial fund of the University of València that has lasted more than a anus.

The Valencia Provincial Council has a wide artistic heritage, made up of more than 4,500 works of art including paintings, drawings, sculptures and engravings. These funds have been the subject of  research over more than a year by a group of professors from the University of Valencia headed by the professor of Art History, Rafael Gil, the dean of the Faculty of Geography and History, Ester Alba, the Department of  Art History, Professors María José López Terrada and Mireia Ferrer.

The result of this extensive work is collected in the exhibition "Memory of Modermity", an exhibition made up of 125 works that cover part of the histoty of Valencian art, painting and sculpture, from the Gothic to the Baroque, with special attention to the works from the 19th and 20th centuries , highlighting works by Reixachs, Ribalta, Vicente López, Sorolla, Pinazo, Benlliure and also by the Crònica team, Andreu Alfaro, Artur Heras, Carmen Calvo and Miquel Navarro, among others.

Framed in the program "La Diputación en las comarcas" which aims to publicize the heritage funds of the country council in the Valencian countries, the exhibition, of which an illustrated catalog with explanatory texts of these works will be published, was presented on Thursday May 18 at the headquarters of the Valencia Provincial Council in an act that has had the participation of the president of the Provincial Council, Jorge Rodrígez, the rector of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo, the deputy for general admnistration and patrimony of the Provincial Council, José Ruiz, and the exhibition's curator, the Rafael Gil Salinas University professor. 

Professor Gil Salinas pointed out in this presentation that the study of this heritage fund of the Diputación can rewrite the history of Valencian art, while both the rector of the University and the president of the Diputación have highlighted the important work carried out by researches of the University of Valencia as the effort made by the Principal Council to make this rich heritage available to everyone in the Valencian regions. In the effort to energize our regions and contribute to development, the University of Valencia and the Provincial Council coincide, as pointed out by the rector Esteban Morcillo, who highlighted thet in recent years the impulse made by the University of Valencia in cooperation with the administrations local public authorities, the associations and the country council has been part of the objective of the university government, led by the Vice-Rector's Office for Participation and Territorial Projection headed by Professor Jorge Hermosilla.
