Description and characteristics

The Master’s Degree in Research in and Rational Use of Medicines is set in the area of Health Sciences
The Master’s student profiles correspond to people who have previously completed degrees in the field of health sciences and who wish to finish their training by taking a Master’s oriented towards the medicaments, for research and for the creation of new medicaments or for promoting the rational use of the already authorised medicaments.
Groups of potential students are the following:

  • Graduates already in the professional world, not only from the Valencian Community, but from any European, American or Asian country.
  • Graduating students, not only from any university of the Valencian Community, but also from Spain and Latin America universities, basically. Although the Undergraduate Degree empowers for practising a professional activity, it doesn’t exist any specialisation that covers the training that the students get with this Master’s.
  • Graduates at the specialisation stage in health institutions, via MIR, FIR,...as this complements the training obtained during the specialisation period.

The duration is 600 hours to be completed in one or more years (60 credits)

The professors of the Master’s are Doctors in Biology, Law, Economy, Pharmacy, Medicine, Psychology and Chemistry. Specialised pharmacists in Hospital Pharmacy. Specialist Doctors.
The departments primarily involved in the teaching of the Master’s contents are the Department of Pharmacology and the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology, both from the University of Valencia.
Teaching staff from other departments also participate it. In the case of the University of Valencia the other departments involved are: Applied Economy and Social Psychology.
The teaching staff that participates in the teaching of the Master’s are largely established, the 45% are Full University Professors and the 33% Tenured Professors of the University of Valenciall university professor . These professors teach the 79% of the credits of the Master’s. The other teaching staff are associated professors, university contracted professors or external professors. 

In all subjects of the Master’s participate professionals and academics from other Spanish or foreign universities.
To ease this participation in the teaching of all subjects, the Master’s has been granted with the Mobility Grants for Professors of Official Master’s Degrees, called by Mobility Grants for External Professors funded by the Santander Bank.
