According the last edition of the QS World University Rankings by subjects, done by the consultant Quacquarelli Symonds, the Universitat de València is ranking among the best universities in the world in eleven of the 39 evaluated disciplines: philosophy, agriculture and forest science, medicine, psychology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and astronomy, education and econometrics, and statistics and operations research.

According the last edition of the QS World University Rankings by subjects, done by the consultant Quacquarelli Symonds, the Universitat de València is ranking among the best universities in the world in eleven of the 39 evaluated disciplines: philosophy, agriculture and forest science, medicine, psychology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and astronomy, education and econometrics, and statistics and operations research.

In medicine, the Universitat is ranking among the best 300 universities of the world and it has the 6th position in national level. In biological sciences and mathematics it is in the 6th position among the Spanish universities and is among the best 350 worldwide.

In the top 250 of the world, the Universitat highlights in three disciplines: education, physics and astronomy, and economy and econometrics, which are in the positions 8th, 5th and 8th, respectively, in the university national stage. 

It is necessary to highlight the recognition it got in the disciplines of philosophy, psychology, chemistry and statistics and operations research, placed in the top 200 of the world ranking, with the 5th, 4th, 5th and 6th positions, respectively, in the university national stage.

Finally, the Universitat excels with agriculture and forest science, among the best 150 universities in the world.

  • Methodology

The ranking analyses the research, the teaching, the employability and the internationalization and uses the indicators of academic standing, standing between companies, the ratio of students per faculty, the citations in publications, the internationalization of the centres and ratio of international students.

The classification is based, on the one hand, on the results of two surveys done around the world; one, addressed at academics and other, at occupants; and, moreover, in the getting of a series of data: the one extracted from Scopus, to determine the citations of publications of professors and of the one collected by the university institutions themselves: number of professors, number of undergraduate and postgraduate students and international students and professors.
