Master's Degree final project

The RD 822/2021 of 28 September, establishing the arrangement of university official teachings in Spain and its quality assurance procedure, indicates that the teachings for completing the Master’s Degree should be finished with the preparation and defence of a Master’s Degree Final Project (TFM) of 6 and 30 credits according with the established in the corresponding curriculum. These credits will not be eligible for recognition except in the case that they are specifically developed in a mobility program.

Concept

The Master’s Degree Final Project consists in the preparation of a report or project under the supervision of a tutor in which is showed the knowledge and competences acquired by students during their master’s studies.
These projects are an autonomous and personal task by students. The projects should be made according with the regulations of the verification report of the Master’s Degree.

The Academic Coordinating Committees of each Master’s can establish specific guidelines and assessment criteria for standardising the preparation and assessment of the Master’s Degree Final Project. In this case, the Academic Coordinating Committee has to send a copy of these guidelines to the Postgraduate Studies Committee in order to ensure that its contents are compliant with the regulations.

Types

The types of Master’s Degree final projects are the following:

  • Academic revision works and bibliographical works.
  • Experimental or theoretical work.
  • Professional application work
  • Other works not included in the previous modalities as specified in the verified curriculum.

At all cases, all works should be a written report.
