The Department of Language and Literature Teaching of the Faculty of Teacher Training and the Master’s Degree in Research in Specific Didactics of the Universitat de València organise this conference on next Wednesday 14 December.
Paula Carlino, Doctor in Psychology by the Autonomous University of Madrid will be the lecturer who will analyse the methods used in different subjects for assimilating didactic knowledges and will question their transparency as tools for learning, objects for teaching and research problems.
Carlino is Doctor in Psychology of Education and her Doctoral Thesis concerns the development of reading and writing strategies in the initial literacy. She worked at the Network for Permanent Training of the Teaching Staff of the Ministry of Education and Science for training of teachers in service in Spain. She is a researcher at the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas CONICET in the Instituto de Lingüística de la UBA.
She directs GICEOLEM (Group for Educational Quality and Inclusiveness by Taking Care of Reading and Writing in all Subjects), a multidisciplinary team formed by teachers and researchers from different disciplinary branches. The team studies the relations between teaching, learning, reading and writing in different subjects of the secondary, superior and postgraduate levels.
Her experience as a teacher in the Chair of Learning Theories in the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSAM) of Buenos Aires, led her to compile her proposals for the academic literacy in the book "Escribir, leer y aprender en la universidad" (Writing, reading and learning at University), recognised as Best Education Book-Didactic Work of 2005.
The conference will take place in the Room Pb-05 of the Faculty of Teacher Training from 16:00 to 18:00.
