Talks for the Pre-doctoral Seminar in Mathematics

  • March 2nd, 2015
Seminari Predoc

The talks for the Pre-doctoral Seminar in Mathematics are an activity organised by the Faculty of Mathematics which aims at bringing the students’ research work closer to the teaching community. Each session of the seminar will include a talk where the student exposes a study topic in a pleasant, disseminative and proper way in all possible levels. Each of the talks is published in a poster hanged around the Faculty, as well as in the following links.

DIRICHLET-MULTINOMIAL MODEL AND THEIR DIFFERENT OBJECTIVE PRIORS

Danilo Alvares Da Silva

12:30, Saló de Graus.

The Dirichlet-multinomial model is the generalization of the beta-binomial model to multiple (more than 2) classes or categories. This model has a wide scope of applications in which the focus is to analyze data from rates of multiple distinct outcomes. In this work, we study the sensitivity of the posterior distribution of a Dirichlet-multinomial model to the main Dirichlet objective priors of the literature.
