Synopsis: Alvin Straight is a sickly old man who lives in Lowa with his disabled daughter. Apart from suffering emphysema and a progressive loss of vision, he has serious problems on his hips which almost prevent him from walking. When he receive the news that his brother Lyle, whom he hasn’t talk to for ten years, has suffered a heart attack, he decided to go to Wisconsin to visit him despite his precarious health. To do so, he must travel 500 kilometres with the only means of trasport he has: a lawnmower.
