The funds considered as legacy of the Department of Geology come from two donations:
Legacy of Professor Guillermo Gutiérrez Herrero
This legacy comes from the paleontological materials collected during his years as professor and researcher in the Department of Geology at the Universitat de València. His research was focused in the taxonomic study of a group of green algae called Charophyta. Most materials are cretaceous outcrops of the Iberian System.
Legacy of Professor Manuel Martel San Gil
Professor Martel main study focused in the petrologic aspect of rocks and industrial minerals. Actually, he created a large collection of them. Most of the legacy is formed by rocks and mineral collections, some fossils and a small malacological collection. A part of these materials consist in samples of rocks with radioactive minerals.
