Last February 2018, Mrs. Teresa Castelló Marchante donated to the Museum of the University of Valencia of Natural History, the collection of lepidoptera prepared by her late husband, Mr. Carlos Agustín Diana Rodríguez. The collection is made up of an approximate total of 1700 specimens, prepared and identified up to species. Most of them are ropalóceros (diurnal butterflies), but there are also representatives of heteróceros and coleoptera. The origin of the insects is varied, but the samples collected within the territory of the Valencian Community predominate, which contributes a special value for constituting records on the biodiversity of our territory. Carlos developed this important collection in a passionate way and by pure self-taught hobby, in contact with personnel of the Universitat de València to obtain the necessary collection permits. From the Museum, we want to convey our gratitude to the family for the present donation. The collection, which also includes interesting files and documentation about its funds, is now in the process of cataloging and computerization, in order to make it available to the scientific community for its knowledge.
