
The spotlight shone on sport for Universitat de València at the European University Championship this summer in diffeent european locations. The UV team participated in tennis, volleybal, handball and other sports where they left heir mark displaying the UV committment to international sports.
Gold for the female tennis team and seventh place for the male team at Coimbra
University tennis gathered attention in Portugal with the Coimbra European Championship.The female team went smoothly through the group stage (3-0, +9 in match difference) that lead them to the finale. They won against the german team of Technische Universität München (0-2) and claimed gold for Universitat de València.
The male team had a good group stage (3-0, +9 in game difference) and went against the host University of Coimbra with the brillinant solo plays of Xavier Vila García (6-1, 6-3) and Iván Candela Gracía (6-2, 7-5). In pairs, the match ended with no registered score.
Fourth place of paddle tennis male ad female teams
Paddle tennis, was also celebrated in Coimbra, where the UV displayed another great performance. The male team reached semi-finals after their victory against the Norwegian School of Economics (2-0). However, victory went to Abat Oliba CEU University of Barcelona in the semi-finals and to University of Sevilla in the bronze finals.
For the female team, UV dominated the group stage against University of Coimbra and University of Adger from Norway (2-0). The bronze final concluded against University of Porto (0-2) which gave them the fourth place.
Fifth place for volleyball male team in Budapest and no classification for the handball female team in Covilha
The UV male volleyball team went to Budapest in Hungary to play a high-skill championship. After one victory and one loss in the group stage, the quarter finals marked the end against Germany Universität Rostock (1-3). The team didn't break and climbed their way up to the 5th place against University of Porto (3-0) and Západočeská univerzita v Plzni from Czech Republic (3-0).
The female handball team paritipate in the Covilha championship in Portugal but couldn't make it through the group stage despite their efforts.

Regardless of the results, this performace reassures the Universitat de València committment with university sports and giving the chance to its students to parttake in high-level European level.
