Using the SHANGHAI-ARWU 2023 general ranking as a reference, the Universitat de València (UV) is placed in position 301-400 worldwide, dropping to this position from position 201-300 in 2022.

Of the more than one hundred subjects evaluated, the University ranks among the top one hundred in the world in seven disciplines, including Remote Sensing (26th in the world, first in Spain). Physics is ranked 101-150th in the world (among the top four nationally). Astronomy and Astrophysics also stands out, rising to 94th position in the URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance). In the field of health sciences, Optics consolidates its position in fifth place nationally in the BGU (Best Global Universities) ranking.

According to the annual report of the Analysis and Planning Service (SAP) published by the UV, which analyses the aggregate position of Spanish universities in the five general rankings and the five rankings of scientific production considered, in 2023 the UV is in fifth position (between third and fourth, if we consider only the rankings of scientific production). In fact, the University obtains the best results in those rankings based on scientific production indicators (publications and citations): it is the first Valencian university in the scientific production rankings, the third in the Spanish University System and among the 250 best in the world. Therefore, the quantity and quality of the scientific production of the University of Valencia in the different scientific fields is fundamental in the positioning in the main international rankings and constitutes one of the main assets of the University of Valencia.

Finally, also according to the SAP report, Emeritus Professor Eulogi Oset, from the Department of Theoretical Physics, is highlighted as one of the seven researchers at the University with the highest relative h-index and Professor María Moreno Llácer, from the Department of Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics, as the third CSIC researcher at national level with the highest h-index.
